Finger painting - a healing experience  It was an amazing feeling when I dipped my fingers in the colours.  When we open the window and let the sunrays reach the world it brings back, not light alone, but new life, and hope, and freshness to every man it touches. Waiting for that first ray of sunrise and sunrays is magical.           Finger painting provides unparalleled freedom of self-expression. There’s no limit to expression of feelings in this activity. All one needs to do is go all out and put all their feelings on a piece of paper by dipping their fingers in paint. While painting, one may subconsciously choose colours that reflect your emotion. For example, you may select the colour red to express your anger or green to express hope. At times you may be confused, and the painting will help you depict your confused state of mind. Once you get your emotions on paper, you are likely to feel relieved and rejuvenated. In modern times, most peo...

Trying my hands on Madhubani Painting Madhubani painting is an emblematical expression of day-to-day experiences and ideas. As such, symbolism, plainness and prettiness hold them together in a single school of traditional art. The symbols that these Maithili painters  have their exact meanings : fish - symbolises fertility, procreation and good luck.  peacocks - are related with romantic love and religion. serpents -  are the heavenly protectors.  Characterized by vivacious use of colour, underlying symbolism and traditional geometric designs supporting the main theme, the Indian folk art form of Madhubani succeeded in generating a place for itself in the international house of fame and is now recognized globally. The Government of India is also paying its tribute by starting training programs educating people on Madhubani paintings. Till date the artisan of Madhubani paintings have used colours directly from nature. Lamp soot served as a source of black, Wh...

Can AI and ML algorithms create painting masterpieces AI artwork sold for $432,500 — nearly 45 times its high estimate — as Christie’s becomes the first auction house to offer a work of art created by an algorithm   Portrait of Edmond Belamy, 2018, created by GAN (Generative Adversarial Network). Sold for $432,500 on 25 October 2018 at Christie’s in New York. Image © Obvious   The portrait in its gilt frame depicts a portly gentleman, possibly French and — to judge by his dark frockcoat and plain white collar — a man of the church. The work appears unfinished: the facial features are somewhat indistinct and there are blank areas of canvas. Oddly, the whole composition is displaced slightly to the north-west. A label on the wall states that the sitter is a man named Edmond Belamy, but the giveaway clue as to the origins of the work is the artist’s signature at the bottom right. In cursive Gallic script it reads:     It was created by an artificial intelligence,...

DREAM CATCHERS  Follow your dreams . Once you enter the dream its entirely your world. Traditionally made from a willow branch hoop, nettle  fibre  or sinew, and decorations such as beads and feathers, the origins of the dream catcher are associated with a figure from ojibwe  mythology known as Asibikaashi, or “the Spider Woman.”  The Ojibwe tribe started this phenomenon and over time this was adopted by other tribes and cultures. This adoption was made possible through intermarriage and trade. Dream catchers were the height of trade and became widely adopted by Native Americans in the 1960s and 1970s. T he iconic hoop-and-web form is meant to protect sleepers from bad dreams by “catching” them  The feathers represent ladders, allowing good dreams to fall or descend on the one sleeping below , while letting good dreams pass through.  They are also known as the "sacred hoops"

THE SHANKHA Shankh is a wind instrument made of a conch shell. Used in religious ceremonies, this instrument is found in  Orissa.  An instrument with limited musical applications, Shankh is considered to be of immense religious importance in Hinduism.  the shankha is blown at the time of worship in Hindu temples and homes, especially in the ritual of the Hindu aarti, when light is offered to the deities. The shankha is also used  to bathe images of deities, especially Vishnu, and for ritual purification . The history   of conch shells dates far back to about 65 million years ago. There’s also evidence that 3,000 years ago they were used by people as cooking pots, hooks, knives and pendants in various parts of the world. In India, the conch was first mentioned as the ‘shankha’ in the Atharvaveda (an ancient religious text) around 1000 BCE. It’s also stated in the Mahabharata that Lord Krishna blew a conch shell when announcing the start and the end of battle...

THE TRISHUL(TRIDENT) Trishul or trident represents the three aspects of consciousness — waking, dreaming and sleeping, and it represents the three gunas — sattva, rajas and tamas. Holding a trishul signifies that Shiva, Divinity, is above all the three states — waking, dreaming and sleeping; yet is the upholder of these three states. Divinity is beyond the three gunas, but it holds the three gunas together. Shul means problems or suffering. Trishul means that which destroys all kinds of suffering. ord Shiva’s Trishul is supposed to destroy ----the physical world—attachment to gross the illusionary  world which seems so real ; the world of the mind---the ahamkaar or ego which is a barrier between Me  and HIM -–thus transforms  to be in the third world that is the world of spirituality –thus leads to oneness Shiva into a single non-dual plane of existence, that is bliss alone
